nonfic

hey, you're the hispanic one
said the white blond kid,
slinging a backpack roughly over his shoulder

nah, he said, with a glance to the floor
but a proud jut of his jaw
and a little sideways smile
I'm american

don't really know how I'm expecting y'all to respond to this. but, I don't know, this is real, and it matters to me, and I like it. moments that people don't notice are where it's at tbh. also people that people don't notice.

  4. You never really know until you ask someone right. I like the kids response. He may have parents that are Hispanic but the fact that he says american is touching in a heartbreaking way.

  7. there is something beautifully poignant and almost heartbreaking about this. way to rock the current events section with your typical fantastic...ness. these are the little truths that actually make a difference, not just the fanatic marching and yelling and being right- it's the human moments, the moments that matter, that actually make a difference. and it's capturing them in writing that brings them to the world. xx Nina
