to stay

"guys we can never leave this town"
he said and he stared into the hazy horizon
and we sat together
in the hot and sun and humidity
on a saturday and we ate our snow cones
and were barefoot on the hard dirt and dry grass
and it was quiet and cars drove by
and the world turned around us
but we sat still
in the chaos
in the moment
in a silent promise
to stay

me listening to u2 and completely unrelated

i know this doesn't make much sense because what even is context but this is a moment of memory that i wanted to store and keep for awhile (such a relative word- awhile). so there you go.

  1. This is wonderful! I love how sensory your writing is...like, as I'm reading this I'm literally in the scene, feeling the dirt and the humidity and squinting against the sun. Thank you for transporting me to this memory, too. No context needed :)

  8. Ugh this is like the memories we all have of a time gone by- like its in our subconscious or something even if we've never experienced it? I don't even know. But this totally transports you its perfect. You imagine yourself in a world colored like a polaroid or something.

  22. I can relate to getting the urge to capture a memory in whatever way, not caring if anyone else understands, only knowing it's a way of saving a portal back to that moment for only you.

    Beautiful post. Beautiful blog.
